ABOUT HOSPITALITY INTERNSHIP USA

Global Internship is a professional exchange program that involves 1 year of employment in leading hotels and restaurants in the USA. It is implemented with the support of the US State Department and allows participants to be employed for 6 and/or 12 months in such positions as: chef, pastry chef, service staff (including F&B, Front Office, Rooms and other departments). The program provides both hourly compensation and is focused on the professional development of the participant and includes practice-based learning. Staracademy officially cooperates with the sponsor organization INTRAX, which is an academic and cultural exchange program company. The US Department of State authorizes these organizations to administer similar J-1 visa programs. Within the framework of the program, the participants receive the support of the sponsoring organization, without which participation in the program is impossible. Its main duties are to prepare documents necessary for participation; verify and confirm employment; provide medical insurance, and provide 24-hour information support within the US territory.

How to become HOSPITALITY INTERNSHIP USA participant?
The participant must meet the following requirements:
  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • English language knowledge at least B2 level;
  • Have education and/or work experience in the field of hospitality. In particular, you must meet one of the following conditions:
    • To be an active university student (min. 2 semesters) in the field of business, management, tourism or hospitality
    • Have an university degree in a relevant field and one year of working experience in a hotel and/or restaurant
    • In case of having a degree in different field mentioned above, then having 5 years of work experience in a hotel and restaurant

  Registration for the program;

  Hospitality Internship USA – Online Presentation

  Apply for desired vacancy;

    WORK LOCATIONS

    Within the Internship program, it is possible to be employed in the leading hotels and restaurants of the USA in such positions as: chef, pastry chef, hospitality staff (including F&B, Front Office, Rooms and other departments). Employer companies involved in the program represent both international and local hotels, including Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Sheraton, Biltmore, etc.

    HOUSING/ACCOMMODATION

    Most of the host companies provide accommodation for the participant in the hotel for an average of 2 weeks at the initial stage. After that, the company’s HR helps the applicant to find accommodation with other interns, which she/he can afford based on her/his salary. In some cases, the company will initially provide affordable housing in exchange for deducting a fixed amount from the salary ($450-650).

    FOOD

    The food must be provided by the participant herself/himself.

    SALARY

    Salary varies by location, company, position and experience. Hourly wages range from $9 to $25. In addition, depending on the company, there are also ways of obtaining additional income:
